William B. Baun has more than 30 years experience in worksite wellness management / programming and directs the Employee Wellness program at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Prior to joining M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, he managed the Tenneco wellness program for 16 years where he implemented 25 different programs for the 101,000 worldwide employees. The Tenneco program received the Washington Business Group on Health’s “Worksite Wellness Award”, Forbes’ “Healthiest Company” recognition and the “C. Everett Koop Health Project Award”. In 2006, M. D. Anderson was recognized as the first healthcare system and NCI institute to be accredited by the CEO Cancer Gold Standard organization for their wellness efforts.

William has numerous wellness leadership awards and is a Fellow of both AWHP and the AAHPERD Research Consortium.  He serves as Chair Houston Mayor’s Wellness Council and is a member of the Board of Directors for the National Wellness Institute, Houston Wellness Association and CAN DO (a community kids obesity effort in Houston).  He has a B.S. in Economics/Government from LSU, a Master's degree from the UNT in Exercise Science, and his doctoral work was in Human Organizational Systems from the Fielding Institute. William has many publications and book chapters in managing worksite wellness programs.  He has published five books on worksite wellness and his latest was written with his supervisor, Dr. Georgia Thomas, and will be published this year on the importance of Healthy Women at Work.

He is an enthusiastic and motivating workshop leader, keynoter, and after a dinner speaker.   Twice he has addressed groups reviewing worksite health issues chaired by the Surgeon General of the United States.
