Tim
Bowen is the Executive Director of Haven Hospice with its home office in Gainesville, Florida. He joined Haven Hospice, then Hospice of
North Central Florida, in January 2000.
Prior to Haven
Hospice, he was Director of MidPeninsula and Pathways Hospice, which served the
San Francisco Bay Area with its home office in Mountain View, California.
Previous to
MidPeninsula and Pathways Hospice, Tim was the National Hospice Director for
Staff Builders Health Care Services and National Director of Hospice
Development for Olsten Kimberly QualityCare.
Tim began his hospice career in 1985 as a hospice social worker at the Kaiser Permanente
Medical Center
in Oakland, California.
Tim holds a
Master’s degree in Social Welfare from the University
of California at Berkeley
and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of San Diego.
He has been an
active member of the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization and
the Council of Hospice Professionals since 1988 serving on various committees,
including the Standards and Accreditation Committee as well as the Managed Care
Advisory Committee. Throughout his
career, Tim has served on numerous boards including the Board of Directors for
the California State Hospice Association, Florida Hospices and Palliative Care,
Inc, which is the State Hospice Association of Florida and the National Hospice
and Palliative Care Organization’s Council of States. Tim served as President of Florida Hospices
and Palliative Care, Inc for two terms from 2001-2003.
Additionally,
Tim is an active member in the local community.
He is a member of the Rotary Club of Gainesville, TEC (The Executive
Committee), the Shands Cancer Center Community Advisory Board, WellFlorida (previously
known as the North Central Florida Health Planning Council) and is a graduate
of Leadership Gainesville, class 31.
