Dr. Louis Benson practices what he has preached. In four years under Lou’s leadership Treasure Coast Hospice changed dramatically. The average daily census went from 280 to over 530, admissions are up over 45%, patient and family satisfaction scores are higher, administrative costs have been reduced by $1.2 million, and 99% of the staff now say they love their jobs and are passionate about their work.

For over twenty years Lou has been regarded as one of America’s finest keynote speakers and seminar leaders. Prior to joining Treasure Coast Hospice in early 2005, Lou was a health care consultant and professional speaker who worked with organizations experiencing rapid change and reorganization. He would address 80 to 120 different audiences each year.

Lou’s philosophy is “happen to change before change happens to you.” Treasure Coast Hospice is a more dynamic organization than it was and change has become a way of life. In this session Lou will share his insights about how to get out front and be a leader into the future.

He has been the featured keynote speaker for countless healthcare organizations. Lou has addressed state and national hospice, home health, long term care and hospital associations. He has consulted with hospice and other healthcare organizations across the country.

He developed and presented programs for The Health and Sciences Satellite Television Network and the Executive Education Series for Primedia. He has authored articles and workbooks on management, leading change and service excellence.

Lou has his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Hawaii. He taught on the faculties of Kent State University and The City University of New York. Between leaving academia and opening his own firm in 1979, he served as a human resources director at a major medical center in South Florida.
