Nine out of 10 of those diagnosed with diabetes in 1994
and 1999
developed some other ailment such as kidney failure, blindness and
amputation within six years of diagnosis. To reduce these
complications, those with diabetes should adhere to recommended care
including regular monitoring blood pressure, cholesterol, blood
glucose, regular check-ups for eyes and feet, so the complications can
be caught early and monitored.
Adult Day Service providers are well-positioned to be leaders in this critical area of health care. Through nursing care, meals, partnerships with caregivers and providers, and education programs, ADS can make a big difference.
Here's what participants of the live conference had to say:
- "Spot-on content, covered the day services perspective in addition to other perspectives; for example: primary care, marketing, new technological approaches"
- "Specific focus on Adult Day Health: handouts, the Case Study"
- "The content was consistent with what was promoted. The speaker variety was good. The technical aspect was excellent.
- "It was a great opportunity based on cost/benefit"
