Jason A. Rothman
is an Associate in the Cleveland, Ohio office of
Jackson Lewis
LLP. Mr. Rothman received his Juris Doctor, cum
laude, from Cleveland State University Cleveland-Marshall
College of Law. He
received his Bachelor
of Science in Business Administration from The Ohio State University
Fisher
College of Business. Mr.
Rothman
counsels publicly traded companies, closely-held companies, and
non-profit
organizations on all aspects of employee benefits and executive
compensation
law. He counsels
them on qualified and
nonqualified employee benefit plans, executive compensation plans,
health and
welfare plans, and employment and related agreements.
Mr. Rothman
advises clients on welfare benefit
regulatory compliance issues, including compliance with COBRA and HIPAA
requirements. He counsels clients on the proper design and
administration
of cafeteria plans. He
also advises
clients on employee benefit and executive compensation issues in
connection
with mergers and acquisitions. He
handles representation of organizations in audits of tax-qualified
plans before
the Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor and advises
clients in
submissions under the Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System.
Mr. Rothman
has authored or co-authored numerous
employee benefits and tax articles that have appeared in multiple
publications
including the Journal of Accountancy, Journal of Deferred Compensation,
Bender’s Labor and Employment Bulletin, and Ohio State Bar
Association Fine
Print Newsletter. In
addition, he has
been a speaker for the Worldwide
Benefits Network (WEB), Cleveland Chapter.
He was designated as a “Rising
Star” by Ohio Super Lawyers Magazine in 2009.
In addition to his legal
activities, Mr.
Rothman is active in a number of non-profit and community organizations.
He is currently President of the Amherst
Public Library Board of Trustees and Treasurer of the Lorain County
Urban
League Board of Directors. He is a
member of the Leadership Lorain County Class of 2007 and serves on the
organization’s
Development Committee.
