Director Luther Manor Adult Day Services Milwaukee, WI Beth Meyer-Arnold received her BSN from Marquette University and her MS in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, focusing on Gerontology and Community. Beth currently is Director of Luther Manor Adult Day Services in Milwaukee, WI. Beth has been involved in older adult community based program development at the organizational level for Luther Manor for the last 15 years. Highlights include a facility-based parish nurse program, specializing in older adults, adult day health programs that blend populations of frail elderly and persons with dementia and developmental disabilities, overnight week-end respite care for families and persons with dementia, creative arts programs that engage students and older adults, and person centered care systems for organizations providing dementia care. Beth has been involved in program development at the state level, through board positions, for the past 10 years. Beth participated in the founding boards of the Center on Age and Community based at the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee, and the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute. Beth is immediate past president of the Wisconsin Adult Day Services Association and current board member of the South Eastern Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Association. Beth has been involved in program development at the national level for the past year as a board member of the National Adult Day Services Association. Beth has presented extensively on person centered dementia care and research, elderly health service delivery; community based older adult services and clinical interventions for care of persons with dementia. Beth has completed research in the area of independence in activities of daily living in institutionalized elderly, bathing experiences of persons with dementia, and caregiver use of overnight respite and it's relationship to caregiver burden, TimeSlips, creative storytelling for persons with dementia, and most recently, the effect of incorporating person centered care in an adult day center and the design and organizational implications that are associated with this program enhancement. |
