Suzanne J. Blumenthal is a Director and Client Industry Executive in the EDS Business Transformation Outsourcing Global Healthcare Industry. In this role, she is responsible for working with EDS’ Blue Shield of California and Delta Dental accounts among others, and for developing client and prospective accounts primarily in the Western United States and internationally, with a functional specialty of products and solution sets (including MetaVance and ATLANTES), focused on the payer community. She is also responsible for teaming with EDS professionals globally, as well as other industry colleagues to further penetrate the industry composed of payers, providers, government and life sciences (pharmaceutical and biotech) segments. In addition, she publishes and speaks regularly at healthcare industry conferences and participates actively in healthcare industry associations including AHIP, HIMSS, Women Business Leaders in Healthcare (WBL), Commission on Affordable Quality Healthcare (CAQH), and California Association of Health Plans (CAHP).

Blumenthal began her 28-year healthcare information technology, strategic consulting, and sales management career with Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young), in 1978. At E&W, she was involved in provider- and payer-based consulting engagements in areas including strategic marketing and planning and financial feasibility.

Following three years at E&W, Blumenthal joined Pacific Health Resources (PHR), a wholly owned subsidiary of Lutheran Hospital Society of Southern California and spent the next eight years in a variety of consulting, operations, client services, and sales management roles at PHR and other LHS-affiliated companies including Worth, Auger & Associates and later, The Peabody Group. She then spent five years with CSC Health Care Systems as Western Regional Director, responsible for developing and managing this managed care information systems vendor’s western regional practice. During her tenure at CSC, the Western Region expanded from 2 to 30+ clients. Blumenthal then worked with a start-up company in the EDI claims management arena, and then became one of the founding employees of QuadraMed Corporation. Working at QuadraMed for five years, Blumenthal helped grow this start-up to a multi-million dollar publically traded company and into an entity clearly recognized as a leader in the healthcare information systems technology sector. Blumenthal served at QuadraMed in several roles, including Senior Vice President Sales, Marketing & Strategic Alliances, Divisional President, and Corporate Officer.

In 1999, Blumenthal joined Health Systems Design, a leading vendor of managed care information systems, where she served as Executive Vice President Sales & Marketing, managed the company’s sales and marketing efforts, and assisted in selling the company to Perot Systems in December of 2000. At that time, she entered the independent consulting arena, working for several focused entities, including EDS, assisting in strategic marketing and sales planning projects and activities.

Blumenthal earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Planning from Washington University in 1975 and a Masters of Health Care Administration degree in February 1978 from the George Washington University. During her extensive career in the healthcare sector, Blumenthal has participated actively in many professional organizations including local, regional and national strategic marketing & planning, managed care, and information systems technology professional associations.
