An increasing number of organizations are taking a closer look at the health risks and needs of their employee population, according to a recent study by Hewitt Associates. More than three-quarters (77 percent) of responding companies profiled the chronic health conditions prevalent in their workforce in 2007, compared with just 43 percent in 2006.
Health Risk Appraisals or Assessments (HRA’s) are one of the most important elements, and often the starting point, of an organization’s wellness and health promotion program. Ideally, the HRA is the first step to driving employee behavior change.
But not all HRA’s are the same and many of them will not be a good fit for your organization’s goals. HRA’s have wide variations such as format, size, types of questions, appearance, processing time, content emphasis and cost per employee. Based on these factors, some HRA’s will garner more employee participation than others.
